In light of Women’s History month in March, I am wondering if you would be interested in featuring the important work that WEST (Women in the Enterprise of Science & Technology), an organization dedicated to helping women in science, technology and engineering advance their careers, is doing.

WEST was founded 21 years ago and currently has over 1,100 members.  It has a diverse membership representing industries ranging from technology and biotech to cleantech and environmental sciences and is a community and forum for early, mid-career, executive and entrepreneurial women in science and technology careers. This Massachusetts-based organization has also grown the breath of its membership during Covid by bringing in many new members across the United States due to the virtual nature of their programming.

WEST’s immediate past president, Meena Subramanyam, Ph.D., and others would be happy to speak more about WEST’s initiatives.  Meena is also the Vice President & Global Program Leader at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Inc.  I also have several other women in STEM at various career levels that would be happy to talk about WEST’s initiatives.

For your consideration, here are some story angles:

  • How has WEST, a landmark organization, evolved since its inception? And, who are the new generation of members driving its continued growth and relevance? WEST can offer several members who will provide powerful insights into the storied history and promising future of the organization.
  • To celebrate Women’s History Month and as part of a DEI initiative, WEST is planning timely and innovative events that include panels and Broadway performances around the intersection between artistic and scientific processes of creation and innovation. Meena worked with Takeda’s global head of DEI, Javier Barrientos, on the initiative.
  • WEST is a powerful voice on diversity & Inclusion efforts and several members can speak to the efforts WEST has made to increase awareness of DEI issues within the technology and life sciences sectors.

Thank you for your consideration!
